Am I only dreamin'

Post by ♥Allissya♥ on Sun Mar 28, 2010 2:14 am

After leaving Winston and Vesta, she found her way back to her room, it wasn't that hard, Vesta was correct on that. She had a feeling that the woman knew quite a few things, and she was glad that they seemed to have gotten off on the right foot. She knew how hard it was, when she could not get along with Winston's significant other. There was no jealousy on her part. She was happy when he was in a relationship and was happy, the whole office was happier when he was happy. Taking a man whom could be a shark, and angering him and setting him loose on a office full of people, well that wasn't pretty.

Once she had gotten into her room, she slipped out of all the outdoor wear. Underneath her State Puff Marsh Mellow man clothing, she was rather small. Not so thin that she didn't have bumps where they were suppose to be, but she was just on the thinner side. Which if you only saw her in the coat might be a bit of a surprise. She had not even time to change out of her traveling clothes, before she had fell against the bed. Sleep was heaven sent.

Her days at the Inn, she had needed a vacation, and she was running the office with Winston's help, via the internet, her lap top, which happened to be a shiny purple, had a video cam and she was doing daily conferences from it. She also kept track of the numbers, because if anything started to slip she was going to have to high tail it back there and take care of things. So perhaps she had a mini vacation around all the work, or maybe she was just making her office here at the Inn instead. That was a novel idea, maybe Winston could open an office here, where they could telecommunicate, back to home. She would have to bring that up to him the next time that she saw him. Which wouldn't be to long. When they worked together they did not work in her room, or in his room, they worked in the lounge. It was because she did not want anyone to assume anything, even though they were working, Vesta would of been welcome to be there. Or anyone else.

It was after she had left the lounge rather late one night, when she was walking up to the steps, that she had that feeling, you know the skin prickles like someone just walked over your grave? Except she didn't have a grave, she was very much alive and kicking. A small shake to shake off the feeling, as she hugged her purple lap top closer to her, fingers beating a bit nervously against it. That feeling went away rather quickly it was the fact she had the feeling in the first place that scared her.

As she reached her door she would use the key to open it and in she went. Yawning as she made her way into her room, locking the door behind her. Left hand let go of the laptop to reach up as she stretched. Such long days on vacation were getting to her. She moved straight to her bed, tossing the lap top in a chair that was near the bed, thankfully it did not bounce and fly off. That was all she would need. Moving over to the dresser she grabbed out a Lilac shade nightie, with spaghetti straps, which would be put on in a jiffy and her work clothes were in a pile on the floor.

Not that the pile stayed there long, she gathered up all the clothing as she made her way to the small bathroom. She had brought a hamper, it was one of those pop up ones, and tossed them in. Then she would brush her locks one last time before braiding and going back into the bedroom, braiding her hair.

Once her head hit the pillow she was out. What she couldn't of expected was the dreams. Oh she had plenty of dreams but these ones seemed real. Like snatches of someones life, someone that she should know but didn't. In one part of the dream was a man, he had a look of pure joy on his face, but there was a flicker and the look went to a deep sorrow as if someone killed his best friend and kicked his puppy. There was a woman, she was next, young and beautiful. Any of her friends back home would admire the woman. The woman seemed happy most of the times. There were more flickers of memories that weren't hers. There was fighting, and cuddling, she just wanted to be able to hear what they were saying.

She had dreams about the two people, more then once, it seemed every night when she laid her head down, that a flicker, a somewhat you should know these people would come with it. Every morning she would awake, wondering who they were, were they alive, why were they in her dreams. She remembered the dreams. Every morning, she remembered them, but she didn't have anyone to talk to them about. She wasn't little miss social here, nor was she back home, either. She could of went to Winston but really how would one of started that conversation. She had even ventured up to Shane's rooms, only to realize the girl was out, thankfully that would of felt..weird.

She had given hope of finding a good nights sleep, or rather a night of sleep that was not plagued by the two people. The figures seemed to have an odd relationship, where they seemed happy in one of her dreams, and the next they were fighting. She had a feeling that these two people meant something to her, but what it was, the dreams had not yet revealed. Truth be told, that was another reason why she did not want to rush home, she was scared that back home, on Earth, the dreams would stop. They had only started when she arrived here, and they had her interest, until she figured out whom the two people were, she didn't want to chance losing it.

The day had been nice and crisp, so she had left her room, and went for a walk outdoors. She had done this often enough back home, so she thought nothing of it, she did not venture to far from the Inn. A bit surprised that the animals were already waking up from their winter naps, and she was startled once when a small skunk came out of the bush in front of her. Pausing she did not move, nor did the pint sized skunk, she did not want to make any sudden movements, for she was afraid that the smell that would come her way would take days if not longer to leave her. As she stood still the small skunk came forward, and rubbed itself against her leg. She did all she could, which was a deep breath and a silent little prayer that the skunk wouldn't spray as she stood there stock still. The skunk rubbed once more, then went on it's merry way. Once she was sure the skunk was out of spray shot, and there was no other animals she was to wait for, she walked back to the Inn. That was enough for one day, and she did not want to press her luck.

Once in the Inn she went to the bar, got herself something to eat, and then up to her room. Filling the tub with hot water, and some lavender bath salts. Tying her hair up so when she soaked it would not get wet, she would proceed to take a bath. Now it was while she was in the bath, that her eyes would droop, for the hot bath with the scents was rather relaxing. When she was on the verge of almost sleeping, but not quite she would see a new person, this one was not like the other two. There was something that seemed almost sinister, as if the person was plotting, plotting something not nice! As she drifted a bit more off, the new woman, whom happened to be beautiful in her own right, crept up and she looked as if she was spying, what could she be spying on? As she was about to see what else was going on, she slipped in the tub, the water hitting her face woke her up. Eyes flying open, bright leaf greens looked panicked for a moment, until she realized where she was. Spitting out the little water that had seeped into her mouth, and wrinkling up her face, her left hand darted out to get a washcloth, that had been sitting next to the bath. She used it to wipe her face, for she didn't want to chance drinking any more bath water.

Once she was done with her bath, which she stayed awake for the rest of, she would grab a book, it was one of those cheesy romantic love stories that Mr. Bakersfield the Third, laughed at her, when he caught her reading them. After her bath she had put on her night gown, and slipped into bed. A part of her wanted to get lost in the story she was about to start, but another part of her hoped that when she fell asleep, she would see more of the two star crossed people, though she feared that other woman was up to something devious.

She was not to be disappointed, for the book proved good reading, even if she found herself speaking out loud. "Like a man would ever do that." A small laugh here and there. This book was about the every day woman whom found that every day man, with a touch of romance. The whole thing was, she never had met a man that could of walked out of a romance novel. Her last boyfriend had said if she wanted a man from a romance novel, he wanted her to wear Victoria's Secret. Oh she did her part, and he did his, only she kept up her end and his end died its death after three days. Three days, before his old self was back, and wanting her to stay in her V.S. Oh she kept the Victoria Secret clothing, but got rid of the guy.

When she finally drifted off to sleep, the dreams she wanted did not come right away, they teased on the edge of her mind. Rolling, tossing and turning, stretching her legs, and her arms, did not help matters. But when that deep sleep finally did come, she was laid curled into a ball on her side. Her arms were hugging her knees. First the man appeared, then the first lady was there, even in sleep she felt a bit awed by the woman. There were tears, tears on both sides, and the man was leaving. Then the lady was leaving, only when she went to leave the other lady showed up. Oh this did not look good, not good at all. The first lady looked defiant, then scared, the only words she had heard through out the whole time she was having the dreams, came next. "No! Leave my baby alone!" It was said almost heart breakingly. Then the both disappeared, leaving her with nothing, but a setting of a garden, a backdrop.

Her sleeping body moved suddenly so she was sitting straight up, her voice spoke most softly, "Mommy." When she realized she was awake. Lifting her hands to rub at her eyes, she would notice tears had been streaming. Pulling her knees up to her chest, she took a deep breath, she had to figure this out. Did those people in her dreams have something to do with her? Had her parents not told her everything? Surely they had, they loved her and she loved them, even if she left at a young age to strike out on her own. She was a very independent child, and her parents approved. Mr. Winston did not know when he hired her she was a girl only of sixteen years, she pulled herself together well, and she had graduated from school rather early.

Looking at the clock on her night stand, she noticed it was now 6 am. One hour, one hour and she would make the call, and ask her mother, if they had been keeping a secret from her all this time. This was a call she was not looking forward to making. And this was not something she thought that could wait until she was ready to return home. During the hour she would think, what if's. Perhaps driving herself even more to get to the bottom of this all.

While the hour passed she read her book. The tale once more had her shaking her head, but she couldn't put it down either, funny how books had that way about them. Or maybe that was just her relationship to them. She checked the clock every fifteen minutes, on the dot, somehow. It was when she looked last and noticed the time was 7 am, that she paused. A glance between the book and her phone. Fifteen more minutes wouldn't hurt anything, and she just wanted to finish the chapter, that was it. It wouldn't even take the full fifteen minutes. Not that she had to call precisely on the quarter of the hour. But if she did not it would be a sure sign that something was wrong. She had always been an odd child like that. If she said she was going to call at 7am, the phone would ring precisely at 7 am. Now if someone did not answer it, that was not on her. So she would read.

7:14:30 the phone would be lifted. A deep calming breath, as she punched in the numbers, she knew the number by heart, even if it was programed into her phone. The phone was answered on the second ring. It was her mother, she sounded so happy to hear her voice, asking about the trip. They would go back and forth with pleasantries, before something changed in Al's voice. Enough of a change that the woman on the other end of the phone braced herself. It was in that single moment, after the words had left Al's mouth, that she would hear a rather large intake of breath. A tell tale pause. A small noise. A confirmation.

And then the words tumbled out. Oh she had a long story of how she had come to be with them. For she was not their child at all, for her mother could not conceive. When her and her father were approached by a very attractive lady asking if they would take in her baby and raise her as their own, well they wept with joy. They hoped she never felt as if they did not love her, for she was theirs, the lady gave her away. She said that she was there when she was born, and was the first to hold her in her arms. The bonding experience.

When her mother, well the woman she knew and had thought to be her mother was done with the story, she was silent. She had hoped that Al wouldn't of ever found out. But that seemed not to be the case. When asked what caused the questions, Al hesitated only a moment, before replying. Dreams.

When the ladies hung up the phones, they both did something very different. Her mother wept, letting the years of keeping the secret from her, finally free her. Allyssia she started to thinking. If her mother wasn't really her mother, and her father wasn't her father. Who were her parents. And why was she having those dreams? The dreams had to be the key, they had to be talking to her.

Could the people in the dream, could they be here? Was that the reason the flashes came? She needed to get to the bottom of this, because she had just found out, who she thought she was, she really wasn't at all.
